Just a heads up (no affiliation !) Just had a new windscreen fitted after a stone flung up on motorway caused a large crack !

Southern Car Glass did a fab job at around 50% of the autoglass price.
They only cover 30 miles radius of Bracknell in Berkshire - but may be able to recommend others.

This meant that I didn't need to claim on insurance and won't have to pay through the nose for my screen over the next 5 years with increased insurance (as happened last time!).

Autoglass quoted £299 +VAT.
Southern Car Glass did a great job for £160
I don't recommend on price alone - 'Will' took his time, knew what he was doing and is motivated to do a good job!

last time I had autoglass fit me a windscreen they fitted it wrong it was resting on the bottom "Guides" and as soon as I went over a bump it cracked I phoned my insurance and they sent them out but a different man and he said it had been fitted wrong so I did not have to pay a second time.

It's a shame I can't get a new heated front screen for that. I'm currently waiting for a stone to crack mine, so I get some value out of my insurance cover.

this weather Nodge I could do with a heated screen as well

I love them so much, I'd not buy are car without the heated front screen. They're just so expensive to replace, the insurance gets the bill, when a stone chip ruins it.

I wonder if - heaven forbid - my non heated front screen was to get damaged, would my insurance company pay for heated one to go back in it's place?...

Unfortunately not. We've had discussions about this int past on ere. They only replace what was originally fitted. Even going to the extent of checking with the manufacturer if needed. Yer could offer to pay for the increased price of the heated screen and see what they say.

To be honest, I would have expected that. I'm not mega fussed anyway. I'd rather the one I've got stays good. I was just being speculative ;)
