Hi all,
I work in the woods and have had to replace my windscreen twice in two years now. Have any of you run wire from roof rack to wing? If so how have you done it?? Pictures on a postcard please! Lol!

Cheers

I haven't, but could you drill the wing and use those pins that they use to stop bonnets flying up on rally cars?

Wonder if moutning a bar (like buses have) on the windscreen pillar might look neater?

I've been racking my brains as to what they are called!! Bush wires makes sense!! Aussie invention maybe??! Bars are a good idea but I quite like the look of the wires. I could drill and attach them to my light gaurds maybe!

Camel Trophy Set by www.Bushcables.com - We post Royal Mail recorded This is you guide to postage costs.

Be aware the forces Bush wires put on the places they are fixed too if you contact a branch.
The need to go down to a bull bar or something & up to a rack.
Dont fix to the front of defender wings, you will just rip them off.
I do not imagine fixed to the front of a Disco wing they will fair any better.
if you mount them to something handy like the corner of the roof and the bonnet then they will likely be ripped or bent (or their mountings etc.) the moment the wire touches something big enough to want deflecting, which is pointless. They're no substitute for careful driving.

their dangerous and illegal for use on the highway (lanes come under highway regs)

Cause an injury to someone in a road accident & see how your insurance & the police will treat you tho.
Imagine how bad a biker going over your bonnet is,
then imagine their limb coming off on the cheese wire.

This would just be for use within the woods. I'm quite considerate of motorcyclists. Father in law lost his leg in an accident due to a careless driver.

I went to the my local yacht riggers and gave them the length I needed. I got a length of wire wit a fork at one end and a bottle screw and fork at the other, I shacled one end to the light bar and the other to an eye bolt on the wing. It was never a problem with the MOT, but I have since removed them. Quick and easy to refit when I need to go back into the woods.

Google yacht riggers some one like The Rig Shop could make these up pretty quickly.

Im with daft though, there not worth the risk to be honest. In the 2 years or so ive been driving off road an don lanes i have never needed bush wires. There is indeed no substitute for just slowing down and or putting a hand out to guide it over the top.

I fitted this kit called forest wires , i purcased them at billing & when i am not using them i undo at wing end and zip tie to my roof rack

Do you know who the seller was Pat? I'm probably going to make mine but would be interesting to see the prices.
