evening all

heres a dumb question but i thought since i have a bit of leave, id sort a nagging issue...

can anyone tell me why my bloody wipers stop halfway across the screen + not return to the stowed position + how to fix it?

iv got pretty good at timing it so i flick the stalk off as they are down but id like to sort it!

cheers guys!

Sorry, presuming that the blades are co-herent and not independantly wobbelling all over the screen.

If they do not both at the same time move to a normal resting position, then the wiper motor is not getting the signal to "park" the blades hence park switch

Awsome thanks skint!

second stupid question of th evening;

wheres the park switch!? lmao

Park switch is inside the motor, normally.

I'm sure there's an article on this on the forum if you do a search, from not long ago.

Oh, it usually lives in the wiper motor assembly behind a cover, passenger side just under the "dash" - as it is known . see also

just to get an idea.

Basically the windscreen wiper switch on the stalk sends a pulse to the motor to give a wipe, and relies on the park switch to keep the power live to the motor until the armsn hit the "rest" position.

Mind you I could be talking bollox at this time of a night.

Try to find the part number of a park switch - but that data lives on another computer.

See what I can do

Rely on other people too for a balanced relpy

thanks for the replies!
iv been trawling the archive but seems they are all to do with worn or ceased box'

looks like im stripping the dash again. DAMNIT! i just had it appart last month;

so is the park switch a replacable item or is it gonna be a complete new wiper motor?

Ah well,

still working on the part number but you are already half way there.

Should not need a full strip out of the dash, just need access to the motor as attached

paddock want more for the postage than the item itself!?

I've had to change the park switch on 3 of my 4 landys and have fitted VW relays to the last 2. All of em have been bought off ebay and I've not had any issues.
