Window repair kit!!!!!!!!!

Hi, any one bought and fitted the regulator repair kit from e-crofting and actually managed to fit it successfully. Reading thro the guide, looks like it's a job and a half with no room for error. I'm in 2 minds whether to take on.

Any advice out there..........cheers.

Where u from m8? Can't be that difficult shirley - just looking for an excuse not to lie on my back in several inches of snow n do my brakes........

I had one sent through, but it had the wrong parts for mine (2000 Td4 auto), so I sent the parts back, and the bloke did it for me.

Having looked at the parts when they arrived, and the instructions, it's a pretty tricky job, but doable.

You could remove the mechanism and send it to him for him to do. Slightly more expensive, but may be worth it if you think you'd struggle.

Certainly could send the regulator away for repair, but it could be a bit drafty at the moment....

I bought one of ebay, downloaded the distructions, & agree, they do look complicated!
I finally bit the bullet, & stripped the door down, only to find it was the actual regulater that had snapped not the bloody wire! 70 odd quid later, & driving round with a piece of 3x2 holding the window up for a day or 3, it was fixed a damn sight easier than a cable!

Hello there, I bought one of those kits last week, my rear mechanism broke at lunchtime ordered and delivered next morning and back on by lunch............ ! Ok so this was only because My window mech. had broken before I had bought the kit and laid it out and oh boy instructions ! hmm now yes they arnt as straight forward as it seems and yes no room for error as I found out the hard way after cutting them at the wrong stage.....ended up being too short the window did not go up to the top,,,,, made a tempory wire from the left over section....... my repair lasted with the window being used twice and then snapped so had to order a new one, but I now fixed it as I knew where i went wrong first time... got it sussed now...

Lol yr kidding.....! It took some working out... ! Its getting the wire to be the exact length (if its broken in the middle ) and knowing where the real should be when its wound in...oh its worth reading instructions twice before you you anything and then its referring to them every couple of minutes to figure out the explanatory notes together with the pictures they supply ........ hmm... ! tools to keep handy,,, when doing the wire repair kit, a pair of mole grips, a saucepan.....lol ! I know what yr thinking ! wait....A hairdryer..... ah.. ok see you use the hairdryer to help the setting time for the resin fixture. You then place with a support the new resin fixed ends into a saucepan turned onto its side this will keep the heat contained thus drying resin very quickly. a T25 or T27 (star shaped) bit to remove the reel cover. one sharp pair snips. /wire cutters. a flat screw driver to prise off one clip... thats it...

See, you've got it all sussed out. Opportunity beckons....
