Hi folks, I get the feeling I'm going to get pelters for asking this because it's probably stoopid.

Anyway stoopidy asks if when winching with disco and handbrake on, pulling probably the weight of yer own vehicle, what's the procedure to prevent ripping the prop off. As you know it used to be common to rip them off during the M.O T by the bugger who did'nt know any better performing the brake test.

I guess there's no point assisting yer mate with one of them poofy poser wichey things that I am getting only to have him chuckling when yer prop disapears into the mud in a trillion bits.

p.s the elvis thread is bril

yes i knew I was going to get it, It's not connected to the prop ya fud, if it's a transmission brake, and perhaps i'm missing something here, perhaps me brain, and I'm ashamed to admit I'm a ..mechanic. but if the brakes not on then the vehicle runs yer over,

Oooooohhhhhhhhhh I see so it's not the winch thats pulling the prop off, it's the fact that the vehicle could get pulled forwards and if the handbrake is applied the fact that the wheels want to turn as the vehicle tries to move forwards and the hand brake is stopping it could shear the bolts holding the prop shafts on?

do you often have people sat around you drinking beer. just kinda watching what you're doing, possibly with real silly knowing grins on their faces?

what are you using as prob bolts play-doh? if ye be scared of this (seriously do you have a tracked disco?) geta lump of 2X4 and hold the brake on hard and wedge the wood betwixt the pedal and the seatbase its an old trick used by mechanics who run old bangers into the ground when the handbrake fails.....

So it was a stupid question then, and i'm a fud.

Nope.
It was a serious question seriously asked.
And you have learned, and they got a chance to tease you too.

I've just gone to get the buffalow gun to shoot maselv

I hear another shooting today .... a cop shot another cop at Gatwick Airport shooting range!

So don't shoot yourself or people may think you're a undercover cop ... and you wouldn't want people to think THAT bad about you.
