Ok here goes. Winches again,

lots of freds at the moment asking "is this winch any good"
and then follows a link to a typical Chinese 12000lbs Cheapo winch, and everyone slates them and so on so forth.

My question is this, Would i be better off spending a couple quid more and getting a branded winch, ie Champion but with a lower rating of 8000lbs.
Is 8000lbs enough? or is A champion ****e anyway and 8000lbs not enough.

i would spend as much as i could afford. but the question that needs asked is what do you require the winch for? a well maintained china winch will out preform a poorly maintained branded winch. also the support that come with the china winch off "winchit" is excelent. a friend prefers his 12000lbs china winch to his old t-max. the gear box failed under warranty and was replaced no questions with a complete gear box within a week. didnt even want the old one back to see what failed. i run a 11000lb t-max that is well maintained. it isnt as quick as some but hasnt let me down yet, touch wood. even on long pulls through deep mud pulling a 110.

i have a 9500llb "Chinese" winch on the front of my 110, when needed it has always performed well.
As aside one of my mates worked at a major brand winch supplier - there new winches arrived in Chinese boxes and it was the young stores lads job to attach the "brand stickers" to em

cheers guys,
many have said the same thing that the chinese winches will do the job.

But also is 8000lbs enough?
I completely understand that it depends on the situation, ie Mud, Clay, Water how deep etc etc.

I do alot of greenlaning and a few pay n plays.

I guess what im after is a winch that i can bolt on the front and know that if i or a mate is stuck then its there as an option as well as the numerous ropes, straps and shackles i always carry.
