There is NO need to solder and crimp. If the correct crimp tool is used for the fittings, not only is soldering unnecessary, but can actually weaken a crimp joint because it does not allow the wire to flex at the interface with the connector, and can cause a high stress point.
Well, my stick welder had problems with crimped ends; they were heating up and annoying me, and I'm a bad enough welder not to need getting annoyed while doing it. So I soldered the ends on, and that sorted that on the spot.
If the cables are well-routed and so on, soldering the ends won't cause any trouble.
But, a good crimp should last a while, and then the water will get into it .... whereas water won't screw up a soldered joint.
