Wierd heated window problem

I have a bit of a wierd problem when i try and use my heated front windscreen. It seems to clear in bars ie a striped effect whereby s tripe is cleared and then the area next to it isnt. could this be a simple relay or is this a new front windscreen?
 
If you look closely at the glass you will see there are thing strips of wire in the glass. They heat up when you turn on the window heating element.

On some aftermarket windscreen glass they only put heating elements on only half the window (drivers side).

How thick are the strips?
 
I have a stone chip that now gives me a 4inch vertical band of uncleared glass, not that it's a problem, my heater clears the windscreen in two minutes on a frosty morning that's quicker the the heatered screen can do.

A D1 screen has two elements so unless the screen is damaged check the supply to the side thats not clearing..

the element strips seems to be intact and the unheated /uncleared areas are of different thicknesses, the stripes go across the windscreen

if its every other bar what could i do to rectify?

I love my landy but the problems all seem to be odd ones
