Wide angle prop

Well you never said what your problem was?
Just said on your OP that you needed new UJ's

Vibration and a rhythmic thudding/thumping from prop area, started around 40mph and gradually happening slower and slower.

Posted before about the symptoms and consensus was the Uj's.

Do not remember the other post, from what you say does sound likely susprcts could be UJ's.
Have you stuck it up on axle stands and checked thru the system bit by bit? Or removed a prop and driven it in diff lock to see if it goes away? and then swap out for the other prop if it does not.

No I haven't mate.
Bit wary of messing with engine or steering unsupervised, so got it straight into a place local that specialises in prop shafts.
He didn't take it off but rang me to say he couldn't see anything wrong from being underneath

Taking a prop off and driving in difflock, is nothing to do with the steering or engine.

I would suggest asking for someone local to you for some help, Someone who maybe has a little more experience with these things. You never know , put a shout out and you might find a local Landy nutter who likes getting dirty. As little bit of supervisory help can go a long way on things like this.

Yeah, we all started somewhere. Does help at times to have a spare set of eyes to look at things. Point us in the right direction. Maybe worthwhile putting a shout out in the Regional section in the Yorkshire pages.

Lifted 2" and castor correction radius arms by any chance?

Lifted yes. Unsure of the radius arms though

Quite common on lifted landy's to suffer from prop vibrations due to the increased angles which sounds a lot like a poorly UJ. Particularly with caster correction as it worsens the angle the prop runs at. Wide angle props won't make any difference, double carden is the only remedy. I've never had the issue on any of mine before I got my TD5, seems some do and some don't. As previously stated removing front prop will diagnose.

Because the angle stays the same, wide angle props are designed to stop binding at "extreme" articulation. If the angle is too great it will vibrate, double carden reduces the angle because it has an extra UJ. That's why the disco 2 has them as standard on the front, many people fit them to their defenders for this exact reason (I did!). If you look it up it's been covered many times.

Fine, interesting read.

But I Have 2" lift with wide angle props and castor corrected arms ,yet I do not have any vibration.
Even someone says the same thing in your link,look at post #9. Start by analysing the situation before spending big bucks on it.

Had a local lad have a look.
First thing he asked was did the prop guy look at the rear....
Rear uj's are goosed

Trying to source a replacement prop for ease of fitting and works out cheaper too.

Struggling to find 200tdi rear props anywhere, do 300tdi fit?

Exactly, merely sharing experience. As with many landy things it affects some and not others.

Gotta love that..... At least you know, UJ's are cheap and easy enough to change. Just get good Hardy Spicer ones heavy duty with a greas nipple on them.
EDIT, as long as the trashed UJ's have not knackered the Yokes.
