This is really a side thread to the 80 AH thread I postged early.

My RR recently immobilised for no apparent reason. It was taken to the local dealer who unlocked it. However it transpired when I went to pick it up that the battery was dying/dead and needed replacing.

Question 1: Is it possible that a dying battery caused it to immobilise? (it also caused all kinds of error messages including traction control problem and don't exceed 55 km/hr. These all disappeared once new battery was fitted.)

Question 2: The dealer said although he used testbook to free it up, it was possibloe to remobilise by potting key to position 2 in the ignition, disconnecting battery and reconnecting, he said he did this also, but fro various reasons I don't entirely trust him. Is this possible? (my EKA car door lock thing doesn't work and neither does the car respond to remotes so if this is indeed true it would be a real weight off my mind)

A dying battery will cause a few problem to pop up on the display, fit a good healthy battery before exploring any faults as you might not have any

Could be that the EKA function has been disabled. Some markets (USA & Japan etc.) don't have it. Also the Immobiliser and alarm functions have also been disabled.
Disabling the EKA is not a bad thing, it's just a pain in the ar*e.

Forgot to add...it keeps Gav busy though with his switch cleaning posts !!!!!:hysterically_laughi

clean the door lock mech, strip it down and reassemble it. there i said it!!! bloody wannabe paddy!!!

if your eka number doesnt work try 1515 you also need to do 4 turns first then code, if its nas spec you won't need the 4 turns!:D:D:D:D

My mate's P38 key fob would'nt open doors. Opened door on key but would not start engine. Display said 'engine disabled'. After advice managed to push Rangie for 200yds, it then all worked fine. Parked in vicinity of mobile phone mast which is believed to have blocked the transmission from the fob. Been told it has happened next to police buildings with transmitters.
