Before I get shot down in flames..I know about the scenario with RR keys, I need a spare for my RR, can anyone tell me if the problem with Huff has been resolved in terms of long delays?

Am I still looking at around £140 from the dealers?

Guys... Apologies for the rant to follow.

I can understand the frustrations of you 'old hands' at what may seam to be stupid questions from newbies... (of which I am probably still one of). But doesn't everyone start somewhere?

TOMMO: I'm sure to God that you at some point in your life you have asked a stupid question; so why call everyone that does an idiot? (yes I can understand that you may be completely fed up with key questions etc) but my personal view is that idiots DON'T ask the stupid questions! It's how we learn. I would be more concerned with the fact that it may be re-listed as working etc just to pass it on.

The fact that something is researched before hand requires someone with more knowledge than the researcher to share not simply to dismiss them as idiots because they ask the questions. Asking questions after the event (again, without knowing you don't know - how do you know what to ask about to start with).

And (me included in this)... If a sane man where to research the P38 before buying one... would a sensible man spend the money? I think not. You buy it coz you want it (true in may case). I can't imagine anyone making an argument for buying a P38 based on research over another make /model vehicle looking for a 'sensible choice'.. can you? I know we love them but they are not the best sensible choice are they.

I can just see back a few years when everyone must have been asking "Stupid" questions about EAS faults until someone actually did something about it.

Anyway... just my thoughts. Everyone to there own opinion granted. I guess in this case I'm happy being classed as a stupid idiot due to being a newbie and wanting to learn. And yes I HAVE asked stupid questions in previous posts. Not stupid to me at the time but looking back... how easy was to find an instruction on RAVE or from the web to fit kit bought on ebay. I too had to scratch my head with the hot fix Tommo:)

I would have thought that anyone buying or considering buying ANY car which they have little knowledge would Google forums on the particular make & model to see first hand what the problems are in order that they don't blindly jump head first into the deal.
There are more than enough posts on here and elsewhere warning of the pitfalls of buying certain parts and keys in particular without the correct matching information (Code's etc.).
If I want to find a particular topic, I do a search on the forum.
For those who do not know the way around the forum...just ask, the guys and gals will be more than happy to explain how it's done....we have all been there before.
:behindsofa:

so irish, are you saying the 10 keys i bought off you are no good to me. i do hope you put a mask on when you sold me them.. lol

i can see where your coming from but i mean come on do some people really think buying a used key of ebay is just going to work straight away by just going out to your car and pressing the button and it magically opens!

The best thing i find before buying something as big and expensive as a new car is to research and find out as much info as i can, even down to silly items that you might think inexpensive but turn out to a burn a hole in your wallet!

jwaldron, i would class myself as a newbie as im still learning alot about maintaining and using the p38 but what i think is that prob 90% of the people on here are asking questions about fixing their p38's as they wish to carry out the work themselves, if they arent on here then i would think they are not bothered/dont have the knowhow about getting their hands dirty or have no interest and would just give it to a dealer/indy to carry out everything that ever goes wrong with it.

i guess the main thing that bugs me is that people are trying to sell their keys on ebay to ill informed owners and making a few quid on them at the same time!!!!
