So appear to of made a mistake thinking approved used is worth the paper it is written.
I have 2016 disco 4. My obd says 02 sensor bank 1 sensor 4 is faulty. Local dealer wants £210 to diagnose the fault and can not tell if covered by approved used warranty until they have done this. Despite me telling them the fault.

Can anyone tell me where this sensor is and is it user serviceable.

End of report.

I think you need a better code reader.
The problem with lots of codes, is whilst the car may see the sensor as duff or the readings as outside of normal parameters, there may be something else causing the sensor to give strange readings.

Which engine?I ask as I thought only petrol models have ox sensors?

If you add a rough location someone may have a code reader nearby?

plus 1, need a decent code reader not the free Torque app if that’s the one I’m thinking of, D4’s are very complicated and need suitable diagnostics that will also give u the fault codes

@lynall @Nodge68 , Now I’m confused , lol

is it the lamba sensor that is another name for an oxygen sensor fitted on petrols and diesels monitor the fuel input instead via MAP and MAF sensors plse

thks , know both of u are extremely knowledgeable and when u get technical it goes over my head so please be gentle , lol

Oooh Gary, naughty boy, using the term Lambda sensor is now a "slap wrist " affair. As I know having had it happen to me!
I only know a tiny bit about this as I have had to replace an O2 sensor on wifey's car.
I discovered there are two, one before the catalytic converter and one after it, which would account for why there are 4 on a V8.
Maybe!
The price OP has been quoted would more or less buy 4 of them so he could replace all 4 and solve the problem!
But a decent reader would tell him where to find sensor 4!
someone on here will know! But I bet it will be one of the two post catalyst ones.
I will watch this thread with some interest.

Ooooooops, lol

just thought wouldn’t a D4 also have a DPF and possibly Adblue , 2016 I think is the 8 x speed so Euro 6

so assume then the sensors either side of the cat look at the differential pressure, therefore indicating if it’s blocked or not or am I thinking of a DPF

indeed ref the price , or could just be a loose wire, lol , have the gap iid for my D3 and must admit must have saved myself 1,000’s in not having to visit a dealer

Funnily it was my Foxwell bought for my D2 that found the dodgy O2 sensor on Wifey's Citroen Pluriel.
They do save us all a fortune don't they.
OP's only problem is finding which one is the sensor 4 and I'd a thort a quick Google would do that.
We must leave him something to do!:):):)

indeed , know I wasted days and days trying to find an airbag error fault, then took the plunge and bought the iid , never looked back in how it helped

found em

It is a 2016 tdv6. I have neighbour who has a better reader so will see if he can help.

Tried Google to no avail. Not getting any error codes. So toying with idea of just ignoring it for a while. The main dealer sounds like a rip off to me.

Aha, so finally we find out what engine it is!
For that price you can buy a Foxwell!!!
I'd be tempted to buy one of the sensors @gstuart found, the post cat ones, or is it a DPF? Dunno! Anyway, then look carefully at the exhaust and see if there is any indication which bank it is.
Howzat for old skool!;););)
Gary, would not RAVE be able to tell us which sensor is sensor 4?
I've googled to try and find out and sure nuff it ain't obvs!

If is is not throwing a fault light I would be inclined to ignore it for now and see if it develops.

It is not unusual at work to plug in the laptop and get 50 plus historic codes, yet no lights showing on dash.

2016 will be SDV6

+1 ^

and just a thought.....
if it continues to give a code, you can find out which sensor it is by disconnecting each one in turn and seeing what the code reader tells you. You should be able to find out which one it is by a process of elimination. Just find each sensor then follow the wire up to its first connection then disconnect and off you go!
Or does anyone think this won't work?

Seems like a number of faults are present not picked up my my cheap reader.

Good thing is Harwoods have agreed to rectify this and other faults under the approved used scheme.

Seem bank 1 Sensor 4 might be the oil level sensor.

Always good if you get the repair for free.

That makes no sense!!!
to me at least.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

plus 1 , must admit thinking about this , so the V6 has 4 x sensors which I assume 2 x sensors before and after each catalytic convertor , so wouldn’t bank 1 Sensor 4 , be on the side where cylinder 1 is and number 4 being on the further side of the catalytic convertor

more than likely I’m totally wrong but was just thinking about it generally

know the intake manifolds can suffer from cracking so maybe that’s the issue ??

will be interesting to see what they find, ( so bank 1 is drivers side front and sensor 4 , after the catalytic convertor ?????)

plus know as a side note injectors don’t match cylinder numbers

Iirc late euro6 D4 have only one turbo the engine is a different designation to earlier models.

Quite, and even with his cheapo reader, by disconnecting each sensor either side of the DPFs or Cats or whatever they are, he should be able to determine which one is causing the problem. Then get a new one and replace it.
Or have I gone completely bonkers?
