Hub to strutt bolts on an x reg td4.

Are they splinned and need hammering out or ??

Ive freed the nuts no problem but the bolts thst go right through are jammed solid.
I've had an impact wrench gun on them, the longest bar i have, and have been hammering the heck out of it to push back through.. all to no use.

So.. which method should i be concentrating on guys.. turn or knock through.. ie splinned or just bleedin tight!!!!!

I had to use a 2ft breaker bar and plenty on penetrating oil, just get them turning as much as possible then you can knock them through. They are not splined just well and truly rusted.

Hi it looks as though your socket has slipped try getting a flat sided one to fit, then soake the nuts with something like wd40 then use a bit of heat and use the long bar on the nut side and a spanner to hold the other, It seems better if you undo the top one first dont know why but it does

that's undone james but cant get the nut to clear spines as the wishbone wont lower anymore and was aiming to get the whole hub to move out taking the drive shaft with it.
will go take another look in min if i can

Or undo the 18mm bolt that goes laterally through the bottom arm and retains it into the subframe assembly. Then pry that out, gives plenty of movement to get the driveshaft out.

why not i normally just lever wishboner down and pull hub over ,you may need to knock drive shaft thru a little to get nut off

I take it the bottom BJ nut is hitting the Abs ring then stopping it undoing? You need to pop the BJ and lever the wishbone down to unscrew the nut the last few threads!! You are better off trying to free the shaft with the lower BJ and steering turned the oppersit way to the side you are working as you will have lots more room to play with!!

yeh that's exactly whats happening and ive got the wishbone down as far as i can but it's not enough. Will jack the suspension in morn or undo the big centre nut holding the drive shaft to the hub.
I'll have it sorted one way or another... then its on with getting the transfer box out.

These bolts made my air gun work a little bit when i undone them. The nuts are egg shaped to make them a lock nut and they are fine thread. I had to undo the nut then turn the bolt a few times to break up the rust before it would hammer out.

Also i add the only reason i had to undo them is because my hub nut in the centre of the wheel was so tight that my 3/4 air gun wouldnt undo them. I didnt fancy trying the 1" gun so i kept the bloody thing on for another day. Just undid the 2 bolts you have done, the 2 bolts at the back of the wishbone and undone the 2 brake caliper bolts(so that i didnt damage the brake line with it hanging). Bit of an arse about face way of doing things but it achived the same thing

You have to pop the lower BJ to get the nut free!! Try hitting the carrier each side of the BJ to shock it free. Then lever the lower arm down ;)
