Who does the best wheel spacers??

Wheel spacers will alter the steering geometry. I would expect them to make the steering heavier because the self centering effect will be greater. I've never used them so I don't know if it's really noticeable. Plenty of Land-Rovers use 8 spoke or modular steel wheels which have a greater offset than standard rims. Fitting wheel spacers would have much the same effect.

Paddocks do a full 30mm set for about £150.
I have had no probs with them for over a year with some fairly heavy use.
Only have them beacuse i sometimes use disco rims cause they are strong but they are also narrow.
No different to having steels with a wide offset.

Land rover do series 2b rims i have a set i will be fitting 900's too some day when there is money in the pot they are a land rover fitment and slightly are considerably more offset then standard. you can also get 130 rims not quite as much offset but much better that standard.

Paddocks.

and they int a bad idea, dunt listen to all the rubbish about eating wheel bearings and geometry and **** like that, they are fine - far less damaging than the bigger wheels they emulate!

Bigger wheels and lack of driving knowledge or bad driving style will eat your diffs and half shafts. People that break them regularly need to learn their limits or forever pay out for parts I have no sympathy for them. Landrover driven the correct way will not damage driveline components when using standard equipment i.e 750R16 or even 900x16 dirven correctly. I have only ever broken one driveshaft ever and that was unlucky after getting myself well and truly anchored and winching somone else out I reversed out of a hole and ting it just went after inspection shaft was well worn. I know people that fit 40 inch tyres to landy axles and snap things every other week. Others stick to 750's and also break them every week I think 11 diffs was one guys year. 2 in one event before he got on the course. Landy shafts and axles are tofee but driven correctly are suitable for purpose. Anybody that wants bullet proof that will take abuse pay 1500 quid for a set of salisbury ones.

Wheel spacers you will be fine. Just bear in mind that you may have to compromise on some durability. Pink panthers were fitted with 900x16 tyres and mega offset rims so I imagine it'll be ok.

Increasing the offset of the wheel does alter the steering geometry. Have a read of the kingpin inclination bit on this page if you don't believe me: Car Suspension, The basics

Because of the kingpin inclination, as the steering is turned away from the straight ahead position the axle rises a small amount, and what goes up wants to come back down, so the steering naturally wants to settle back to the straight ahead position - this is the self centring effect. Offsetting the wheels exaggerates this.

In real life though and on a Land-Rover I doubt offset wheels would have much of an effect on the steering.

People put wheels with different dish depths on their landys all the time, we are talking about 2cm with spacers which is much less than the difference between the depth of say disco alloys and wolf wheels, so i would say it depends on the wheels you got on there already. People won't like em on here coz they are considered unnecessary bling but that is irrelevant to the question which is where he should get em!

So as you say it is unlikely that a commercially available spacer will have any discernible difference to the steering or the number of bits you get through!

I'm not against them or deep dish wheels - it's just I'm a bit pedantic that's all;) They'd be good for a bit of extra side-slope stability especially if the vehicle has a suspension lift.
