Whirring gearbox

This happened just the once, after a 100 mile trip I was nearly home when there came a loud whirring from, i believe, the gearbox. I took it out of gear and coasted a bit as my brain tried to stop thinking bad thoughts, the noise slowly decreased until it stopped, there was however a slight burnt smell, like you get when you blow a fuse. I continued home, 20 miles, no problem, and today 45 miles no problem....

Anyone about to tell me theres going to be a catastrophe soon or was it just a lump of poo in the system burning off (no idea if thats possible or probable but what the hell)

i would check the oil level in ya box first. maybe a bit low.

Maybe the handrake overheated ??????

something move and touched a prop shaft?

My T-box whired. But it was constant noise. Pulled it out and it was buggered, whacked another one it and it shut up.
