Whine noise

Hi all just got rid of my m plate disco and took on my dads n plate.
Amazing the differences between the 2.
2 button fob which works lol
trailer light on dash which shows when towing.
alarm beeps if key left in ignition with door open.

plus more.
But to the point..... when getting to 55 mph plus I get a high pitch whine sometimes stays sometimes dies down again. Only at that speed.
Dad said he had heard it ages ago but thought nothing of it.
It's just had a replacement engine as he cooked the last 1 anyone got any ideas?

I'm thinking transfer box or diff can't investigate until the weekend.
Might want all new fluids in which case I think maybe do gearbox as well
any reccomendations??

Hmmm, a whining noise from your disco whenever you go above 55, You married?
 
Probably not related at all but I had something similar on mine and was convinced it was something to do with transfer/gearbox and changed oils etc before I accidentally grabbed the propshaft and found a very floppy U/J!
 
Is it manual or auto?
I use 75W/90 in TF box and diffs
Front and rear diff take approx 1.7litres
Transfer box will take 1.9litres
Word of warning.....check that you can undo the fillers before you let anything out....seen a couple now where people have drained everything out and cant open the fill holes to refill ecerything back up!!!

have you check to see if there is a woman trapped under car, my 110 makes a whining noise when the wifes in it
