Well the door will not lock / unlock, I cannot hear the solonoid kick in on the door when I use the lock buttons on the dash, plus the window will not energise, the fuses are all ok, so in my mind its almost as though there is no feed getting to the motors, I am wondering if a connector block has come astray or a wire broken on the feed side. i have left the battery cables off and seperated, and switched the headlight switch on to disipate the capacitors, I am now off to search how to reset the windows and sunroof when i reassemble the battery/leads.

Well Nodge.
I have done the hard reset, but its not cured it at all, I am now running out of ideas, Mot is not due until August so its not as though i am desperate for door, and i am not going to lose sleep on it, its just so annoying that I cannot do a repair because i cannot get the door card off.

I've got a car related day today, so I'll have a look at mine, to see if it's possible to remove the door trim, while the door is closed. I'll report back with my assessment.

I've had a detailed look at mine this morning.
I reckon it is possible to remove the door card with the door closed.
The seals are close, but don't actually touch the flange around the edges, so there's nothing to stop the door card pulling free from the door.
The screw (it's a No2 Pozidrive) on the rearward end of the door pocket will need a particularly length screwdriver, as it's quite close to the plastic trim, but other than that, all fixings are easily got at from inside. Removing the rear seats might give you more room, but also means there's nothing comfortable to sit on while working on it.

Sorry for the late reply, I have been busy all day and ony just come on to pick up my emails and check the sites. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to check the door panel out for me, thats great news. I have managed to get all the screws out no problems, the small screw in the bottom pocket I used a Screw bit and a small adjustble so I could use it in effect as a right angled screwdriver, so that came out no problem, I will remove the rear seats and have a go at removing the door panel. I will let you know how it goes. I have an idea that if i bend the end of a small screwdriver back on itself, i maybe able to get the end of the driver under the edge of the door panel and use it as a lever to bring the panel away from the door, hoping that I have enough gap between the bottom clips and the plastic seat base moulding. I may have to shop around see if i can buy some more clips as I am bound to break them when removing them, but it doesnt matter as long as i can get the door open.

Get yourself a set of plastic trim removal tools. They come in all sorts of shapes, which are able to get behind panels, so you can lever them off, without doing any damage to the door or door card.

Door trim clips can be bought very cheaply from Advanced Factors, they do fast mail order.

I received the trim kit today, it’s bigger than I envisaged, looks smaller on fleabay, that will come in handy for any trim on the car, thanks for the heads up, going to try to remove the door card tomorrow. Will give you an update later. Cheers.

You are a God amongst men. Thank you, I have got my door panel off with the door being locked shut any without damaging any clips, all because you took the time to help me and send me the link for the trim kit. It just took 10 minutes, AND you can remove the panel from the top it does not have to be pulled free from the bottom as it shows in all the YouTube clips, I stuck the wide removal tool into the top of the panel and gently pulled until I heard a crack… then pulled towards me and the clips popped one by one.. Over the moon, at least I can get to the door lock now and start repairs….. Thanks again.
