Hi Guys,

Dropping both front wheels soon to strip brakes and put on new discs/pads etc and have a general tidy up of the front end.
The rest of the vehicle is waxoyled and the rear drums painted up but the front is scabby and i've seen numerous reports regarding siezed ABS sensors!!

So my question, while the brakes are stripped is there anything I can do to prevent the siezing of the sensors etc? maybe try to remove them/copper slip/re-fit and de-rust/paint?

working at a power station I consider preventative maintenance to be the cheapest cure sometimes :O)

sods law says the sensors are already seized so if you try to remove them you will mess them up and have to replace, search on here for past difficulties, and remember, if it ain't broke, it don't need fixing.

As above with regards to the sensors if they ain't broke leave them well alone, when you strip the brakes have a check at the caliper guide pins and the grommets that cover them, there a weak spot on the brakes and if the grommet has split then inside will seize up. New guide pin sets can be purchashed cheaply and come with new grommets, cleaning everything up and giving it a coat of paint won't do any harm, uses good quality high temp caliper paint. I'm going to be doing the same to my brakes soon.
