which winch

can someone please tell me what pulling power of winch i would need for off roading recovery for my defender my diff lock is not working so i think i will need somthing to get me out of trouble. Jim.

fix yer difflock, don't waste yer money on a winch - them's for posers.

so your diffs not working, so instead of fixing it your going to spend around 7-800 quid on a winch and bumper? then you have to think about a sep. batt. split charge, batt management...

cant you just get some good recovery straps and points, and go out with someone who can pull you out if you get in trouble? winches cant always save you anyway...

your gonna need around a 9000lb winch. 12,500lb if you can afford it.

save your money. nearly all winches are useless. esp the electric ones. just for posers. not one of em will do the stated load.
if ur really really must get one, then get a proper hydraulic one.
or for cheapskates, get a tirfor. not for posing but at least will do the fecking job.
