We use the Castrol Syntrans in DAF truck transmissions, 80 k between changes. Not cheap, but at least Freelander doesnt take 15L at a time.
 
had an email from Tim at Opie oils and he said the Silkolene was the better as it had esters in it?! a silicon type compound I'm guessing!

either or just std oil ,theres nothing sophisticated inside like lsd diffs,synthetivs are used to prolong service intervals,some qualities of sythetics dont allways last long and general wear can contaminate oil as well as condensation,making oil not too good a lubricant,reconditiong boxes makes you keener on oil changing rather than trying to make oil last longer

I like castrol. Only coz I liked the advert when I was small.
