Hello...i am new around here, I have a problem with my 2.5 V6 Auto, where the gear change almost sends me through the windscreen!!!

I have looked at the other threads on the forums about this and am going to look at the fluid levels over the weekend but does anyone know where i can get the Shift Solenoids from?

Also can i get the transmisson fluid from anywhere other than Land Rover and what do i need to get?

I am just researching all options really just in case this does not work!

I spoke with the Landrover dealer and they said that they are £12 each......and then said that they are listed as a 'blackbox' item. i.e a non servicable part. It seems if these items go you need to get a new box instead of paying £36 for 3 new solenoids!

Thanks

yups sigem un welcome. . . .try changing the oil first its not to hard a job ,but follow the instructions to the letter ,go into search there is a right up on there that takes you through it, make sure you get the correct oil dont be tempted to put in anything but the correct stuff, then get back to loony zone if it helps or not . . . .oh un best er luck earthling:) :) :)

I've done a couple like this,a TD4 and a V6 - works a treat. There are more than 3 solenoids tho,but I replaced 3 - the line pressure one,the 2/4 duty solenoid but I cant remember the last one.I'll look it up when I get to work next. They all came from LR as with the oil.You are supposed to measure the oil temp with Testbook when you change it,but in reality they never leak so just measure how much came out and replace it with new.Ashcroft Transmissions might be able to supply the parts aswell. The oil and solenoids may seem expensive but its alot cheaper than another box,and alot quicker.

Thanks for all the advice!

I have put in 3 litres of ATF402 fluid (from LR) and it seems to have done the trick! I will keep a close eye on it though.

I did find where to get the solenoids in the end.

I spoke to LR and they said it was a Black box item as i said, then called Ashcroft and they had some but Mr Aschcroft would not sell them but they put me in contact with Sussex Auto Parts who said they had around 200 in stock and would cost £20 each and they would post! So much for LR, it seems all thery will do is sell you a new gear box but replace the solenoids! RIP OFFS R US!!!!!

What a helpful bunch you are!
