Had a look around on ebay before and couldn't get over the price tags on disco's. Found 94-96 300's with price tags of between £2k-£6k. Even found a bog standard 200 with steel wheels at £2.5k. There were cheaper td5. Just wondering what other members thoughts are on this, and it seem crazy to me.
I paid £1000 for mine, which turned out to be a cat C, and have spent another £1600 on it with repairs and off road bits. But to me I know i'll never see £2600 for mine cat C or not.

The truth is they were the last LR's built that can be field fixable, people are only now realising how good they are.Prices will reflect that,I was told recently they are the most sorned vehicle in the UK.

if someone wants to give me between 2 and 6k for mine they can have it! I'll go buy meself a nice fender... going the way i'm going with the disco i may aswell have brought one anyway! :p

would have to be a bloody good price for me to get rid of her though...

Saw the Disco 4 at the royal county show in Newbury today priced at £52,000. Must have had all the optional extras under the sun as I didn't realise they were that expensive. Even the range rover sport next to it was only a tad more at £57,000 !

Picked up a nice 96 N plate 300tdi auto for a mate of mine last week it had 90k on the clock with history and old mot's etc and he paid £2400. It will need a bit of work on the O/S inner wing for the next mot, apart from that its pretty sweet.

I paid that for mine 2 years ago so it seems they are not loosing money thats for sure.

I only recently bought my discovery and while asking those 'in the know' what to buy, I was told several times that the TDi's were the best bet if you can find a nice one. I have to hold my hands up and say, I probably paid too much for mine, but it was what I wanted and I'm really pleased with it. They are worth whatever someone is prepared to pay and do seem to be a bit in demand at the moment.

It's simply economics, current 'real landy' owners will have spent a lot of cash keeping their Disco's roadworthy, whether it be gearbox/transfer-box, diff's, welding, engine mod's, body work .... at the end of the day, if need be, their Disco is worth more to them broken up than sold as a whole vehicle.

There is a n reg 3 door disco for sale near by, went to look at this 12 months ago at £2495. Its still there now. at £1995. I know that true owners that take pride in there discoveries will have spent over the odds keeping them on the road, I've spend nearly double on mine, and still spending. The thing I didn't get is, that some of the cars were rust buckets, and yet came with a £2.5k price tag

.......a quick snort of blow helps with writing the advert and the daft prices.
I think you may be right with that one. They must be drug fuelled as its unreal. Its like the restored 200 overfinch on ebay £19,995. I would love to sell my car and have enough to buy a tidy td5.

Bought mine 5 months ago ( 1997 300tdi auto 97,000 miles).
I paid £2400 it's 1 owner with loads of history.
Body work n chassis is mint.

I looked at loads before buying this one, varying in price from. £800 - £2500.
Cheap = shed.....you get what you pay for I think.

Having looked at loads before I bought mine, I have to agree with that. All the cheaper ones were in terrible condition and clearly hadn't been looked after. Some of the dearer ones weren't too clever, either! Seems like if you want a good one you've got to either pay over the odds for one or buy cheap and spend the money getting it up to scratch yourself.

That shed looks ok to me for a cheap un, Disco looks nice too

I've been and looked at a few, there are bargains to be had but it seems that there a few chancers, particularly of the fleabag type who are just hoping someone will buy based on the description.

I looked at one, the guy wanted 2k, disco 1 300tdi but the chassis was rotten through. I've looked at another, v8 with 78k on the clock in pretty good nick for less than 1k, just needed a bit of TLC.

It seems to me that there is a lot of crap being sold for silly prices, and people are buying, which makes the prices seem a bit nuts.
