Hi all any ideas as to this fault that has developed over time progressively getting worse. When I press the brake pedal it brakes normally but if you press it again straight away then it doesn't slow the vehicle. Once the vehicle has been back on power its fine until you double brake. I was wondering if it might have something to do with the servo? obviously I need to resolve this quickly.

Thanks in advance for any advice offered

You have a small-ish vacuum leak somewhere. Check all pipework. Usefully, you dont state what engine you have...if its a TD4, check everything from the vent filter to the turbo VNT solenoid connections to the vac pump to the servo, vac accumulator and the EGR solenoid and valve. Its all the same vacuum system and a split, perished or chaffed hose will give the symptoms you have.

hiya

I've got a td4 and removed the inlet manifold for cleaning

when i did noticed two vacuum hoses and one had a hole in it

put a pic onto show u , the old pipes are on the left and just left them there to show what happens to the pipes

it was originally to cure a rough tick over but it also improved the brakes considerably

may be this yet again it may not but just a suggestion

If it's a V6 there is a vacuum valve combined with a junction in two vacuum lines, sitting just under the mid to l/h back edge of the acoustic engine cover/air filter box. It's made of plastic and can break in two leaving the servo without vacuum.

if it is a td4 try the pipe that comes off the vacuum pump and goes over the gear box as the rubber pipe wares on the gear box I think replacement is 4 mm

Thanks for all your support and help when I get home I will follow this up and check it out. The support and advice here is fantastic.

Thanks again
