Hello everyone,
I'm considering putting a set of alloys onto my 1991 90 200 tdi.
I've been offered a set from a later defender and I'm told they will fit but will need spacers because I have drum brakes on the rear. I see a set of spacers from a local parts dealer at £150. Puts the cost up a wee bit, now I'm wondering if it's worth it. Any ideas?

Completely your choice, could consider getting a used set off ebay or swapping your axles for a set off a 300tdi Discovery which would also give you disk brakes all round with no need for spacers and then flogging you ten spline ones to recoup some of the money. That's what I did

I don't like the idea of wheel spacers. Loads of comments on here somewhere saying they put extra strain on wheel bearings etc etc. Alloy wheels look pretty but depends what your going to use your 90 for. Also keep in mind I think it's the Freestyle Alloys have a weight limit on them. OK for a 90 but not for a 110. On a 110 it would invalidate your insurance. Just thought I would mention that should you want to up grade to a 110 later or sell them on.

Enough said, bolloxing up the wheel bearings would be unacceptable, I'll stick with the steel rims. I'm running on Goodyear G90's, a bit noisy on the tarmac but excellent in the rough. Cheers Mike for the reply.
