hi folks ,firstly i am new to this site and think its great ,i am also a new landy owner , a 1999 freelander xdi , i will try and keep this short , i bought the freelander knowing the ird was faulty and am happy to run it with the rear propshaft removed , what i want to do is plan ahead for the winter as i live in a hilly area , i want to use good chunky off road tyres when the snow comes and would like to know if other land rover wheels will fit the freelander so i can broaden my search on the likes of ebay for a wheels and tyres package that i can fit in the winter .however my aim further down the line is to save up and have the four wheel drive system reinstated by replacing the ird ,any advice on wheels would be most appreciated ,many thanks

What size wheels do you have? If you have 15" or 16" wheels you have a wide choice but if you have 17" you will be limited.

For 15" or 16" I'd recommend General Grabber AT's. (All terrains) These are great for all round use. I actually find them to be quieter and smoother than the old Goodyear road biased tyres that I had on previously!

As for your IRD, you may also need a new VCU as well, which is an additional expense. Worth keeping in mind.
