every time we go over a pot hole or bump i've noticed a clunking noise coming from the rear.after investigating it, i know its the lpg tank in the spare wheel well.
i had the gas serviced in the middle of last year,so it should be ok.
should i try and stuff a towel underneath it or should it be secured to the base of the well?
thanks

tank needs to be very secure, if its moving around it could end up stressing the pipes with possible rupture of the pipes

you need to have a look at the mounting brackets and see if they are loose or broken an rectify accordingly:)

Sounds like you are driving a potential bomb:eek:

i've checked the mounting brackets and they are tight.i don't think any padding was put down before the tank was placed in the well.the tank is very secure, but bolted through the centre, and there is a small bit of movement.i have tucked a towel around under the edges.i'll see what thats like later, and let you all know.
it might even be something else making that clunking noise at the back when we go over a pothole or speed hump.

stop pannicking.i've checked it.its not moving about.just needed a bit of padding around the edge.

I had one of those in my Merc E Class ... ALWAYS Clunkin about but VERY SECURE In the end I got a can of that expaning foam & sprayed it around the sides .... NO MORE CLUNKIN!!!!

Should point out though I DID leave the breather holes clear (In the bottom) As LPG is heavier than air if it does leak it will "Fall Thru" the holes & NOT fill the car up with LPG Gas!!!
