New here so this is probably a silly question, but..

My car is fitted with 255/60 tyres on 18" rims with a spare of the same size.

With the car came with four unused 255/55 R19 tyres on rims, but with no 5th spare.

The overall diameter of the different sized tyres appears similar, but the question is will I bugger the diffs if I fit the new wheel/tyres and need to use the smaller rimmed spare?

Why if ya've got a full set of 5 255/60 tyres would you even consider putting 255/55 R19 on as a spare

Yeah OK read the post properly

The answer is no cause they're near enough the same size diameter ;)

Yes it will cause undue wear in the planet gears to use two wheels of different diameters on the same axle.

a, Wheel diameter may be different but most people put tyres on em.

b, Ah think you'll find that with them tyre sizes the overall diameter aint much different.

c, He was only on about usin it as a usable spare so the slight difference wont hurt short term or even long term as the difference is only gonna be like one very worn tyre and one new one which yer diff'll cope with :p

Thank you all for the input.
I understand about MOT matters, and just wondered about the diffs/planet gears if I needed to use the origional spare.

Yeh your right answered in haste. Repenting in leasure. I deleted that answer and corrected it later. Everyone one drops a bollock. EVEN me. :O)
