Good idea,will be out buying some paint tommorow,need to do drums also--thanks for the info--DaveLoads on eBay about £20 for a full set brand new.
Stainless steel - not a good idea - not enough room to explain the metallurgical reasons here.
Mine rust a bit too over the winter due to salt etc.
I file em up a bit and spray them with black Hammerite in the spring - same time as I do the rear brake drums - look a treat.
I made a little painting jig from a wooden plate and dowel rod to make the painting easy.
