Hi Mozz, most garages will buy and replace the complete hub as it's easier and they can charge you more. It needs a 20 tonne press and a lot of effort to press the old bearing out of the hub:eek:

I can then price them up hopefully ,, any ideas on parts numbers so im talkin from the song sheet ?????? thanxs mate hope you and your good lady are enjoying our European heatwave !!!!!! when r u in u.k. ????????? cheers mozz x

I was over for 10 days in June, 10 days of ****e weather and traffic jams:mad:
Tis bloody hot here with some spectacular night storms, had a mini tornado last night. Too hot to work which is why I'm playing on the computer.
Hope you are keeping well, your P38 seems to be needing a lot of attention at the moment:eek:

Sorry to cut in
I too have a rumberly wheel bearing and was contemplating the pressing the bearings out
Im i right that a replacment hub is a home diy job? as buying a hub and diying it is cheeper than having a garage replace the bearings!

I gave the scrap man some good hubs last month infact I binned loads of p38 parts:eek:new bearings are nasty to change they are seriously tight,s/h hub replacement is easy but how long it will last is anyones guess

well were getting the storms here down at caravan in boston ,, regarding my vogue its in garage for last 2 weeks and will get it back in another 2 weeks ,,,its having complete engine re-build and heads as well,,,, the no 6 cylinder decided it didn't want to play any more and threw the liner ,so am bit miserable at moment with having to pay out approx. k3,500 to sort it ,so was considering havin wheel bearings done whilst its laid up , hopefully there cant be much left I haven't replaced in last 3 years ,but wont hold my breath ,you know what these p38s are like ,ive probably spent nearly k13 by now but its a beaut and looks good but when engines done it should last me another 10 yrs if that's not being too optimistic ,,fingers crossed ,but have hired a 13 plate freelander 2 sd4 and god I know I love my vogue but im well impressed with this new bit of kit , any way thanks keith I will keep you informed with progress ,cheers mozz:crazy_driver::crazy_driver:

I'm changing the front bearings in a few weeks, luckily I have access to a 20t press so hopefully can do it. Will let you know how I get on
