What've you done to your insides?

I'm picking up my freelander project tomorrow. Externally it'll stay looking pretty standard, just with the addition of a black nudge bar and black grills for the headlights, might even add a 2" lift at some point with a/t tyres.

As for inside the freelander, its use will be a full on 2 adults, 2 kids and a dog type scenario so I'll be fittin a double din head unit, probably along with screens in the head rests for the kid on the long journeys.

Just wondering what interior modifications people have made to the freelander (for inspiration) and photos of said mods if possible.

Thanks,
Dave.

Not done much (so far) but if you have a dog the tail door dog guard is useful.

Fitted a voltmeter so I can keep an eye on the battery state (ironic as I bought it a week before my alternator failed and fitted it a week after getting a new alt).

My steering wheel was a bit shiney so I fitted one of those stitch on covers, helped a lot.

Oh and replaced all of the silly little trim bits that it had lost before I got it.

what hippo did u get please

got two dogs and bought a decent back seat cover, for when the lab decides to molt, as they lay on the back seat, also got some harness that clips into the seat belt so if i brake they dont come off the seat

replaced every internal bulb with leds, including the dashboard etc

put an unmarked black carpet in

installing a cb

new steering wheel with ice and cruise control paddles

removed and washed and steam cleaned every seat

put a rear hard parcel shelf in

drivers side light panel for up to 4 x switches for my front spots and fogs

fitted oem cruise control

think thats about it, well for now:):):)

Electric bits, that reminds me.

Same 4 switch panel as GStuart mentions, but nothing fed off it at the moment...

Aux socket in the boot, and a couple of white LED markers on the rearmost pillar as extra courtesy lights.

2 retired greyhounds, one rides in the boot and the other on the back seat on one of those seat hammock things to keep the seat clean.

Extra pocket on the tail door trim, and a bungee net screwed to the hardbacks inner trim so I can stow jackets without getting dog hair on them.

Done more than I remembered, getting old.

I was getting excited when I saw cruise control, until I noticed the pen and realised you couldn't have the 1.8.

The sale hasn't gone through yet simply due to logistics. But this-

It's a 1.8 k series on a mems 3 ecu and will be used for a 1.8 turbo conversion.
Already have a green 1.8 freelander which is for stripping and scrapping as its been laid up for 18 months needing a Vic inspection, interiors gone moldy, no remote fob, rear window dropped, fwd.

Ideally I'd like a black interior in the FL but I'll get the engine in and running first

Not 100% yet. The options are-
Upgrade the dash (which I haven't looked into the complexities of yet so may be a no go).
Fit a flip up head unit that has video input and output feeds for cameras/ monitors.
Fit a head unit that has enough video outputs to run a master screen and 2 monitors.

I'll know more when I look at the dimensions

i done this in mine so uncan install either a CB or cd, etc

the facelift dash and speedo etc wont work, something to do withthe electrics etc

the interior went to black from i think 2002 onwards

plse see pic as it isnt a double din but can be done and then able to fit either a cb or cd etc

i replaced my leaking heater matrix and the old dashboard had a big scratch right across the dash so got a second hand one, fitted more insulation on the inside of it, including more on the insides of the door panels etc

Black looks soooooo much nicer.

I can see me turning everything black. Could use the older freelander to strip and spray the interior plastics, then fit them to the newer freelander when they're all ready (both pre facelift). I think black dash, doorcard and seats look loads better, plastidip & fabric dye here we come. Carbon wrap is a nice touch to the centre, suits it

Out of curiosity, if I was to produce some more seat frames to take aftermarket seats, would there be any interest in them?
