Hello,

This isn't landy related at all but, I'm just re-working a little trails bike and I can't set the idle speed high enough because the idle speed adjuster bolt isn't long enough to extend out of the carboretta. Does any body know what the specific name for this bolt (with hole down middle and cupped end to hold cable) is, or where I can find them?

Here's a pic of one: (Brass bolt / nut where cable enters carb body)

Thanks for any help!

the brass hex majig where the cable first joins. I had thought about brake caliper bolt but I can't find them long enough!

As G-spot said, that's not how the idle is adjusted - it should have a separate tick over adjuster which should keep it ticking over even if the throttle cable is slack.

Aye as above. The adjuster on the cable is only for adjusting the slack in the throttle cable. There will be an idle adjuster screw somewhere probably only a crude job that alters the height of the slide in the carb, should be fairly obvious.

As others have said, there should be a set screw - either actuating straight onto the slide, or onto the external arm (which the cable fastens to)...

The bolt you mention is the coarse cable adjustment screw, in addition to this there should be another adjuster at the throttle end, this gives fine adjustment. There should be about 2-3mm of slack in the cable to accommodate bar travel.

By the looks of it, it's a chinky minibike? You might be better off picking up a second hand dellorto (or other decent) carb off a 100-125cc scooter, before the chinky one breaks on you. Bit more top end power too!

There's only two screws which can be adjusted. The cable tensioner (as I was asking about where the cable enters the carb) and the fuel mixture screw, that's all unless I am missing something  The bike is only one of those daft little "mini-moto" style things, but it's about 15 years old. I'll go and get some pictures!

POS!

wind the adjuster right in, and at the other end if there is one! Then undo the inner cable clampin bit (the other brass hex screw with the slot in it) and grab the inner cable wi yer pliers an pull it all tight. retighten the clamp an yer should be able t adjust the bit your talkin about t suit !;)

The pic that I posted above isn't actually my carb! There is a pic of my carb below. I'm still 100% certain the only way to adjust the tickover is to tighten / unscrew the cable tensioner slightly

Ignore the brass washer on top of the adjuster screw, I super glued that on to try and lengthen the screw slightly! The fuel mixture screw is on the other side

Oh **** I've been totally stupid here! This little carb doesn't have an adjuster for the fuel mix, but rather the adjuster screw on the other side alters the height of the plate inside, which will actually adjust the idle speed! A stupid mistake I've made because I had the cable set inside the carb wrong, and the adjuster couldn't move the plate so it looked like nothing was happening! Thanks for all your time, I feel a bit silly now
