Hi guys, I have just done the EGR Mod this morning along with the Crank Breather replaced for the new BMW non filter version.

I am curious though, I replaced the EGR and cleaned as much as I could today (will do the Inlet Manifold when I have more time) I did notice though there is a plug in unit attached to the Intercooler pipe on mine as in the picture attached...with the plug and wires coming from it

(Apologies for borrowing a pic from another user on here, my camera wasn't charged, so its not from my car exactly and I have no oil leaks)

This is fitted to mine onto what appears to be a silver alloy section that the sensor screws into..rather than the plastic one on this picture..

I'm only asking as there looked to be a small amount of oil on the sensor when i looked inside and was wondering if it will detriment anything or should I replace it..
I was reluctant to try clean it as i didn't want to break anything..

My car is a 04 TD4 by the way....

Thanks...Dean

Hmm now i'm curious....

I posted this question twice by mistake but have now got 2 answers...

It's an IAT (inlet air temperature) sensor. There's no way to stop it becoming oily, don't worry about it....

and also the one above from longdog..

Which is it then ??
and if it is the MAP sensor would the fact that it does have oil deposits on it be a detriment to the running of the car..

saying that, mine is an 04 facelift model so hardly an earlier TD4 ??
Thanks..Dean
