I have a 2000 discovery td5, diesel, manual. needs a new turbo. the part number [I'm told] is 452239-5
I've found a turbo (OUCH expensive) which is for a 2002 td5, automatic petrol. the part number is 452239-6

will it work? I have to buy it from UK and ship it to spain where the car is, so there's no way to compare before hand.

any advice?
cheers.

Hi Wendy, I assume your ref to petrol was a typo?

Year 2000 cars are EU2 and year 2002 cars are EU3 so they may need different turbo chargers.

Here are some new ones:

PMF000040 Turbocharger - TD5
They did specify a vin number for this part so it is not clear whether this is for early, late or all cars.

PMF000040 TURBO ASSY TD5 LATE | shop | www.lrseries.com | L. R. Series charger&page=1

They refer to this one being for later Disco's.

Or have a look on Ebay for a supplier called Squibs, he breaks Discos al the time and I found him to be very reliable. His source of cars is excellent.

Good luck

Dave
