Almost. Your 200tdi has 10 cylinders with 20 valves per cylinder

So the 200 comes from a multiplication of cylinders and valves - that's blummin clevva.

So the 300tdi has 3 valves per cylinder?

With 3 valves per cylinder that's a 90 - is a 110 3.6 valves per cyl?

i think the telling thing in this thread will be who's done the most miles with what engine. I've done 116k in my 2.5na, so hardly enough for bragging rights. Is there anyone with over 200k?

For the people who don't like electrics, have you heard of the 300tdi in military Wolf defenders? They've got no electronics whatsoever apart from the fuel stop solenoid. If an EMP blast ****s all your electrics, you can just override that, and you've still got a running engine I'd vote for one of those if it was available in the poll

Joking aside, I know what your saying - fair point. What other elecs does a non-auto 300tdi have by the way?

naturally aspirated. Ie. No turbo charger

You mean the EGR ECU? That box of nonsense? How many are still connected I wonder?

I have a 2.5na, and yes, it's quite slow, but I actually like it a lot. It takes off really quick in first, because there's no turbo lag, and it pulls hard in low gears (low ratio, 1st, 2nd).. As soon as you hit a hill in a higher gear, you're struggling though. But I love it. I love the sound, and I love the fact that it's never failed me

Basicaly the same as my old 300tdi disco (1995) yeh there was all the electronic **** for the alarm etc... but you could get the engine running with with just 12v to the inj pump !

new to the site and have been doing alot of reading up.

i just scored me a defender 90 thats been standing still for a long time. whats the longest anyone has left an engin standing an got it started again?
