Hi all

I'm after 2 things for my disco and just wondered if you can help please

1) where can I find the copper washer for the engine coolant drain plug that's near the dipstick tube/exhaust on a 300 tdi, I've been round my local places and can't get one that's just rite, or even a known definite size or part number will do???

2) I want to fit a coolant level sensor to the same engine (prc7925) and I'm just wondering about people's experiences with the non genuine ones, are any particularly good or bad, and wots the latest and easiest way of making the wiring up, are they still made the opposite way to normal so they cut the signal when coolant is low???

Many thanks

Towsey

Thanks for that...I didn't think the copper washer would be £2.28 tho plus postage

All I can find for the second site is vehicle sales?

Cheers

Thanks for the links and I found the part but it's all in Russian or some Eastern European lingo, even if I just go on the site all the purchasing pages etc are in foreign. I'm happy to buy them from eBay but I just wanted a size, I went round all my local places yesterday but they were all wrong so I was wondering if they were a random size but when I measure them I think that m12x18mm will be rite but I've only got a broken drain plug to go off.

Has anyone any experience with the coolant level sensors please???

Cheers

+ 1 & cliking on the symbol does nothing.

Works for me , gets me the same part number.

There's a few options, just google or forum search "300tdi low coolant system" or similar and you'll get a good array of results, some expensive off the shelf kits, how to wire the RRC sender yourself, and other options. E.g https://www.landroverexpedition.com/technical/300tdi-low-coolant-alarm/

I went for the low coolant in the reservoir sender style homebrew system on mine, as you can get 160celsius capable stainless switch floats off ebay for less than a tenner + horribly bright LEDs for £5-15 quid - which I "deliberately" tested a week later by leaving a jubilee partly undone after unrelated repairs ... works a treat. Still functioning well a year later

unseen in the photo, i dremelled out a 10mm hole in the visible rib after discovering it holds water on the float side, should have fitted it the other side really but hey ho.

Thanks very much for all this info, it's much appreciated!

I've already ordered some M12x18 copper washers because I thought they would be near enough and if they don't go over the threads of my good plug il just increase the ID of them. I can find the part and number on that site but when I follow it through to the purchasing page it's all in foreign including the price, but thanks for the link anyway

I've seen this thread about the coolant level sensor before, in fact it's the one that made me want one, but I've also seen others where people have just used a NC relay (or am I being dumb and it's a NO relay). I was wondering if these circuits are successful and if not why not? Also I was just wondering if out of the available sensors people have found certain ones from certain suppliers are better than others???

Thanks again

Thanks, It's manual

I was hoping to wire up to an unused bulb in the clocks (prob the auto temp light if that's why your asking) and also the key in ignition bonger cos I've disconnected it, but I'd just like to use a relay like others have if poss, but I don't know how successful those circuits have been compared to the more technical ones
