Thinking its about time for a change trouble is I don't know what my freelander is worth in a private sale so I'm looking for advice from those in the know.

Its a 1998 2.0 lt xedi on an "R" plate, moted till april 2009 taxed till october 2008, its in good alround condition and apart from a few minor problems over the last 26 months its been an excellent car (few minor scratches and a little car park ding in the backpassenger door) its got almost 130,000 miles on the clock and I chucked a set of leather seats in it off ebay. So come on guys what should I be asking for it? ball park figure for a private sale ...... if its not worth much then I'll just keep it till it dies lol.:p

Dealers would probably look for abt £3k, I'd be inclined to ask £2500, and treat anything over 2k as a win.

Good luck with it!

Had a look around and according to parkers and other similar websites it's worth about £2250 as a private sale so yeah £2000 would be good but how popular are they in the current fuel / tax climate lol. Maybe I'll keep hold of it after all or maybe iI'll cjuck it in the local paper just to gauge interest.

thanks for responding though JonS it was helpfull.

After a couple of weeks of advertising in the local ad-trader For £2200 I have had the grand total of 0 enquiries I'm guessing nobody wants them anymore lol:p .

Have had it on ebay for a week with an opening bid of £1800 had no firm bids but have had a few emails from peolpe taking the mickey with thier offers one guy had the nerve to ask is I'd take £1000 for it as long as I would pay an independant mechanic to check it out for him and send him the mechanics report to say its good mechanically. He got told where to go obviously :D.

Have decided that maybe its better to keep the freelander and try and sell the Celica instead..... .

i paid £850 for my 98 r plate diesel just before xmas so would have taken it.

i will have it off you for £1000 :D

Suppose theres always the swan vestas route

Nah couldn't do that to her shes been a good old bus only minor niggling faults over the last 26 months. Guess the celica will be in the paper next week then.

Sold my '98 Xedi for £1300 with a few faults(windows nazzed, sunroof nazzed, rear door handle busted) and 168k on't clock. Word I heard was that 15-1800 was bout going price for a 98. Soz...:(

No need to apologise if thats what its worth thats what its worth. Just gonna see what happens but theres no way it's going for a grand I'd be better off breaking it for spares and selling bit by bit or just keeping it till she eventually dies and goes to landy heaven.

Thanks for all the info now just keeping my fingers crossed that somebody wants a reliable freelander ........... I understand they are few and far between LMFAO:D .

Hi

Just looked in Glass's Guide for you and that age and mileage (assuming a 5 door) comes in at a trade value of about £800. We normally say to add about £400 to this for a private sale meaning you're looking at about £1200 for it.

As usual in this game, if you are in a hurry you'll have to let it go for a bit less. If you're feeling greedy and can hang on you might get another £100 or so more but that's about your lot.

Hope this helps

Rog
