Taking my 17 year old Freelander 2 SE along to a body shop for a bit of tlc?
The dreaded tin worm is starting to take its toll with rust and bubbling paint making appearance here there and, to be perfectly honest, just about everywhere. The badly corroded rear subframe was replaced last autumn.
Despite the high mileage it's as sound as a pound and everything works (except the glowplugs and Bluetooth and I don't care about them. The former have never worked and their absence has never caused a problem. The latter went tits up a few months ago and I've not got round to replacing the module yet).
So, is it worth spending what may turn out to be the value of the car just to extend its life by a few more years?

Your call??
Landrover engines are some of the best around! However, the bodies do need some TLC? But! As I said above??

If you keep on top of it? The price is not so bad over the year?

Petrol or Diesel?? Mileage??

Blinkin ek, you're talking about outing your old motor as tat, and I've just bought one that's only a couple of years younger, and for good money, that's our 'posh' car!

Oi you! My FL2 is not tat . It’s our posh car too. Used irregularly for weddings, funerals and christenings (no bar mitzvah’s as we’ve never been invited to one). It scrubs up well and looks great from 15~20 feet away.
Also used to lug logs, dogs, kids and garden refuse. It’s towed a caravan (wife’s idea. I hated it), a yacht (much heavier than its legal capacity) with ease. Frequently used with a trailer to haul topsoil, gravel and sand, again, well in excess of unbraked weight limit ( you can tell the trailer’s heavy when you need 80psi to make the tyres round).
Tat indeed. Humph!

Sounds like my F1 in its hay day, it has earned its semi retirement after 25 years of primary mover of those things - including the overloaded trailer with flattened tyres - until the wheel popped off the trailer  . Mind you it still gets almost daily usage including dog transport and tip runs with the trailer.

I wouldn't want to spoil the leather or (not damp) carpet in the F2 ;)
