I've got the chance to buy a 2001 y 1.8 3dr GS model in dark blue nice colour 84k nearly fsh headgasket not done but ok
what should i looking to pay

£100 it's only good for scrap value. and you'll still end up Thousands out of pocket. Don't do it the expense isn't worth it. Ok you may be lucky and get the 1 in 10,000 that doesn't fook up but do you feel lucky? Well do ya??

mmmm , i paid £3K for my 99 t plate 1.8 xei 2 door in purple, body kit etc 18months ago, offered £900 a couple of months ago as a trade in .

i would not pay any more that £5 £6 hundred quid.

and i would set about the same agian for head gasket and watch the ird.

if i knew what i knew now i would of got a disco or defender, but i have been lucky so far , no problems. HGF done by LR dealers under warrenty and IRD the same.so touch wood. so far so good.
there are people on here that have had nowt but agro from them.

i will be keeping mine till it fooks up then i sell it broke up. worth more.

Mick

redhand i take it you dont like freelanders as for the car its my brothers car he's had it for 3 years and had no problems he's been offered £2k on a trade in on a £9k new car

Tell him to bite the dealers hand off. paying £2k for a 6 year old petrol gaylander would be a huge mistake the fact it's managed to last 6 years is a miracle and is even more reason not to buy it as it's got a huge list of mega expensive repair bills just waiting to bite your arse.

Just do a search on any forum. Anyone with half a braincell will tell you to steer clear of the 1.8 petrol engined model.

redhand if you would rather have clap than get a freelander you need to get out more in the first place to try and catch it and leave those sheep alone

I say one really gets rather upset with some people. One tries to answer their questions in an honest manner whilst attempting to insert a little humour into the reply and they get all upset, when they don't get the reply they wanted.

Perhaps we should have lied and told you to buy it seeing as a 1.8 petrol engined freelander is such a wonderful motor. After all a search of this forum will be sure to reveal just how wonderfully reliable they are, and everyone knows they hold their resale prices so well there's almost no depreciation at all.

Or is the story about it been your brothers a figment of your imagination and the truth behind your first post was that you were fishing for a price because you've got one to sell yourself.

I'm not upset at all but you dont like freelanders so why dont you stick to your beardy sites and leave us gays alone
It is my brothers car i dont lie he's had it for 3 years with no problems all i wanted to know was is it worth buying for £2k or not

And the answer I gave was an honest one and has nothing to do with my like or dislike of a freelander £2k is about 5 times what it's worth. The repair bills when it starts to go wrong, and the chances of it going wrong are very very high. are astronomical
