Hi all, I already have a 96 300tdi manual that I love, spent many an hour & a few quid on, new rear inner arches, rear mudguard linings, just put a new clutch in 2 weeks ago, timing belt, new inner cills & a few other jobs !
seen a very nice disco , its a R reg, 300tdi auto, only 110 thou on the clock, 7 seater, no rot, new tyres etc, its had a whack on the front end, needs bonnet, grill, front bumper, headlight, indicator & a new inner wing & front slam panel, thinking of buying it, I can find most parts to fix it apart from the inner wing, it is a very nice disco, think it will be worth fixing, any ideas what its worth ?

Has it cracked the chassis? Inner wing sounds dodgy. If the chassis is not cracked, then say £600-800. If it is, then £300-500 (ie for parts only).

no chassis damage at all, only light damage, I bid the owner £500 for it, but I think he wants more as it would break for good money - engine £350 - £500 , gearbox £200 - £300 , wheels with brand new pirelli scorpion tyres £200 - £300, then all other parts plus mint interior , then scrappage weight on the chassis & shell ?

Are you asking me or telling me the price??? LOL Yes in theory those prices are great, but you need to factor in the time and hassle etc. How much does it cost to transport a 2 ton vehicle 50 miles? etc.

I don't understand, why is it you are asking advice on the pricing of this car, you appear to have all the answers already?

The car, as you well know, is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it, as always. You are saying it's worth £500 to you, so that's pretty much all there is to say.

Im asking for various inputs, the car is very local, about five miles away from my home, would it be worth fixing is the question.

would it be a good buy or better busting ?

IF you have the skills to repair it (as you claim) and you have checked to see if you can source the parts. You already know what it will cost to repair and how long it will take you. So what else do you need to know. A mint R reg 300 tdi disco is worth £2k Approx having a cat C rating on it will knock £500 off the value.

So is it worth buying it??

It's not recorded, I think £400 should fix it, the only part im having problems finding is the inner wing - I have even thought about breaking my own 300tdi & using it for the doner parts, then busting it for spares !

Well I went ahead & bought it ! £500 for it, 104000 miles, not recorded, started stripping back the damage on it today, now just looking around for the parts to repair it !

Paint code 961 epsom green - looking for a bonnet / drivers side wing / headlight plastic infills !

Hi, done a full hpi on it, All clear, inner wing ! im going to cut a inner wing & front slam panel out of another vehicle on tuesday ! or I may just but a new one !

the inner wing is a real easy repair if you've got a bit of time, I'd buy a new one from YRM (hold I did that) then spent a couple of weekends clearing off the old ones and rebuilding.

enjoy it,

I think a new inner wing will be the best option, I will look into it with a bit more depth, I was concerned about the top section of the inner wing, as it does not seem to come with a new one (the section that the outer wing bolts onto) ?
T he only part that may give me a bit hassle is the front slam panel for fixong - re-alignment.
Time I have - welding im very good at !
