What's 24 volt petrol 109 like in deep water?

take a tub of grease and a condom fer the dizzy cap 
keep yer ****in foot down and hope fer the best, try and keep a nice constant wave going to keep the water parting and out of the engine bay , how deep yer thinking of going?

I was just wondering if the 24-volt leccies in the 109 would be ok??

yer , petrols int they best i must admit, if yer thinkin of doin it get it prepped well, if it takes in water , its curtains they int so forgiving as the diesels

It looks water tight, and being ex military i thought it would be?
Look's like im going to have to go with the condom and grease idea

Make sure you've got the remote axle breathers as well, would also recomend a wet suit
Yep - if you've still got the 24v distributor there's a vent on the side. That said my air portable has been deeper without ill effect, but this may just have been bow wave luck.
The plug cables should be fine, but the ones to the coil and the stop down box on top of the rocker cover are rubber seals and perish.
How much do you trust the fuel filler cap?
There should be vents in the bell housing to fill in I think, and the metal military fan un-bolts for wading if you've still got that.

didnt know they made wetsuits for 109's - where can i get me hands on one of them then?

OK first of all i'd make a shield that wont let any water hit the dizzy cap. Its not water getting in there you need to worry although it would be my seconadry concern. my primary concern would be stopping any cold water splashing the dizzy/dizzy housing creating condensation inside the dizzy cap. Condom/glove and grease work so far. for the offroad racer V8 a good big shield was made to deflect any water splash away from the dizzy (all of it not just the cap) aswell as a rubber glove RTV sealant on the cap (more for peace of mind) we had a vac pipe running into and out of the dizzy cap that would draw filtered air through constaintly. Any condensation if any was formed would soon be history. No fool proof way except buying a diesel!
