Afternoon all I have an odd one for you. I have a 200TDi that came out of a Disco in my 1986 C reg 90. I bought it because my 2.5 was burning oil and at the end of its life. I wanted to get something with a bit more power so decided on the 200TDi. In the next year I am going to be sending my truck back to the states and need to make sure the engine is not too new (older than 21 years). Where can I find the build date of my engine. I searched but could not find a good source for the answer. I was thinking of going to the heritage motor museum and buying a heritage cert with engine number. That would tell me the year of the Disco it came out of and would let me know that it is at least that old. But because it it 50 pounds I would like to see if there is a another cheaper answer out there. Thanks to you all for the help.

I thought the vehicle had to be as it left the factory in as much as original engine, chassis, running gear and gearbox.

I could be wrong tho.......

edit:

a very quick search and

If you don't feel like reading all the text below here are the basics:
Over 25 years old, and still basically stock...
No problem, some forms, but easy to do. The DOT has a 25 year cut off and the EPA has a 21 year cut off, so on an older Rover you are all set, no real hassles. However the 110 has to be in original form. No engine swaps, no huge modifications from the way it came from the factory.

The whole page is here
