Electronic diesel control was fitted to Auto 300Tdi for the start of the 1996 model year - ie from August 1st 1995.(Tis fly by wire)
P.S. the TA chassis year on.

Are we just talking automatics here....?Cos my 'N' plate auto got the bloody stuff, but my 'P' plate manual aint.........

on the same theme, can the EDC be accessed by laptop to remap, change shift speeds/revs,lower tickover etc?If so,who cepting main stealers got the software....Im sure I could knock up the leads....or am I?Or should I?What sayeth the panel?

unsure shocksi:confused:

Yep,only the Auto's from 96 were EDC,manual ones were always mechanically governed. There's nothing wrong with the EDC tho, its a reliable system and as standard makes more power than the manual ones.
The shift points for the autobox are all done in the box itself, changing the idle speed etc is not easy - would require a rechip,ie,expensive.
