Have been told that insa turbo sahara's would do me but also been told they are crap on the road has any one had them or does anyone have a idea what tyres i should get i need an aggressive tyre as i got stuck this week but want to be safe on road

why not think about all terrain tyres then , they will defently be less noisy than mud terrain tyres , i run discoverers st,s no noise on road and not bad off road either mind it depends on your budget aswell

BFG AT's or General AT²'s

i have 4 x bfg at's on discovery alloys for sale if ya want. black es style freestyles the at's have about 1000 miles on them. 235x70 disco size.

Yeh just had a look at the bfg st's and they dont look that aggressive i want some bad boy tyres i am thinking of buying another set of wheels and chucking a decent big off road tyre and jus change the wheels as and when need. Cheers

No-one can really tell you 'cos what you want isn't really available in a single tyre.

What I mean is any mud or extremely aggressive tyre is inherently crap on road, especially in the wet, but also not brilliant when dry.

AT's are a compromise and as such are adequate on either, equally a bit crap on road when wet, and a bit crap off road when really muddy. They're also very good on either when dry!

If you want safety, buy road tyres for on road and swap to Mud tyres for off roading. If you want to go green laning then AT's are the best compromise.

As Paul D above...there's no more to be said other than my bit :)

Thare's no such thing "best for both road /off road" all 4 x4 tyres other than tyres fitted to vehicles like the new RR are bias one way or the other ie. 80% road 20% off road or 70% 30% or it could be the other way ie. 80% off road 20% road only u can decide what tyre is for you.
I understand the some AT treaded tyres are a bit skitish as speed in the wet while they are brilliant/good in most off road situations again it up to you.

I've been running BFG muds for a few years now and I can't fault them. They're good on or off road, not too noisy, and they last forever. On my 110 they were maybe a little bit tetchy in the wet but on the slightly heavier disco they're spot on.

bfg muds are quality hughsey! They are also underrated off road and they last forever! I use gen grabbers because they are fairly cheap and give good gas milage and work on road and off road. They are like the jack of all trades but master of none.

i run general grabber at2's, dont like them on the road when its wet, hav'nt slid yet but you get no feedback, had a hilux on same tyre, felt alot safer. all the best.

Thanks to all for your wisdom i reckon i'll get another set of wheels and chuck the sahara's on them and swap the wheels as and when i need too. Any one have a set of wheels for sale around Essex i'm on ebay so keeping my eyes on that and does any one know of any landrover shows or 4x4 shows happening anytime soon?

Thanks Beveridge, thats about what I thought, but I'm a bit strapped for cash at the moment, with the work situation & xmas as well!
Has anyone got those Insa Turbo Trac-edge tyres? Didnt BFG do them 20 tears ago? what'r they like?
