Hi Guys and Girls,

Me and Dan84 are looking for a LandRover Series 1/2/3, well at the moment doing my research so i dont get caught with a rubbish one.

Just wondering if anyone can help us in giving some advise what to look for with this type's of landrover. Its only gonna be used for fun, so on road off road on a sunday morning or whenever you feel Looking to spend around£1000 pref bit lower but will spend more if its worth the upgrade!! is this possible figure to hit etc, as long as it works and is mechanically sound then im happy, as want a project to do up over time anyway.

if few of you guys and girls can help that would be great. Thankyou

rusty chassis and bulkhead, check brakes, clutch cylinders int leakin,uj's and prop shafts aint fooked, wheel bearings int fooked.the day you buy it fill up the axles, engine, gearbox, transfer box, grease ujs and props

check the electrickery is working and listen for odd noises !

Well I'm a novice too! I was told to look carefully at the chassis (but mine is galvanised!) and bulkhead for rust. Make sure it doesn't jump out of gear and starts without loads of blue smoke! I checked the engine was cold on mine before the vendor started it. I found mine on a road side so was cheaper than online auction would have been! Things I missed but have found since include...messy 'modified' loom, door hinge droop and a few spots of rust! Of course there's nothing that can't be repaired it's just a case of economics! Hope this is a help!

its now had the SLT's replaced

oh i agree with that no end. Its an Old thing so it will need tlc but long as its got MOT and has the abiility to be worked on etc it doesnt bother me. but i dont want something i buy and next thing i find is that it needs a total rebuild or something

Charlieccu and disco they are both mint, i assume you have done body work and they didn't come like that.

I'll have a hard on for weeks if i can get one like those for sub 1k

looks really good mate, whats the power like? Obviously im not expecting super car performance, but i don't want something im gonna need to push up a hill.

We only decided to do this today whilst hung over, so my knowledge of defenders is nonexistent
