Could anyone tell me what to look for when buying a 110 csw.
I'm going to look at a 1983 3.5 v8 110 tonight and could do with a few pointer on what to look for.
What are the common faults?
What is there to look for structually?
Thanks Daniel

Don't know much about v8 engines but smoke, leaks and funny noises, the stuff you'd look for on any engine really. Structure wise you need to check for corrosion in all the usual places, ie have a good poke around the whole chassis with a screwdriver. Check the rear crossmember for rot, outriggers espescially the bulkhead ones, the bulkhead itself paying particular attention to the top corners, footwell area and the pillar where the door hinges are attached. If you get to drive it listen out for any clunking or banging or excessive transmission noise. A landy of that age could be a belter having had £000's lavished on it, or it could be a tired old dog that needs just about everything sorting, and as prices vary wildly it'll be up to you to decide.

Just seen your other thread and had a look at the 110 on ebay. I'd be very sceptical if it can't be driven. There could be all sorts of faults like some of the others said that won't show up until you drive it. It'd have to be very cheap. Bear in mind that not long ago I bought a diesel 110 truck cab with a full MOT and 6 months tax off ebay for £900 so you don't have to pay a fortune if you keep your eyes peeled. Having said that a V8 on lpg.................:D
