Hi.

I'm no mechanic but I reckon I could blank of my EGR myself but it's the cleaning of manifold and other bits I get lost on.

Does anyone have a copy of a step by step process that covers the associated cleaning and other jobs linked to EGR blanking. Pics would be good too.

Many thanks.

Far as I'm aware you dont have to clean anything,

Just make sure you got all the parts,

Its the EGR unit its self which is had to get off, most people blank the easy access part to get off

Assuming its a 300 then the intake manifold is easy to remove, however you will probably find the gasket has had it and to replace it you will also need to remove the exhaust manifold too. Was a fair old bit of gunk to clean out of mine 160000 miles worth which is an incredibly messy job to do.

Its also bad bad stuff so gloves are a must mate , diesel soot ,oil, gunk .

I burnt mine out with plumbers blowtorch and compressed air from my compressor (not a can) search manifold cleaning red neck style :D

Or the easy option buy a clean intake off the net and bin your own saves hours of mucking about

easiest way is to undo egr valve from manifold and fit a blank tin gasket then refit valve ,job done

Cool
Which pipe and how do I locate.

Also, is getting into the manifold to clean it out an easy job or garage job.

Thanks folks.

2x 13mm nuts and 2x 10mm headed bolts secure inlet just remove them and hose to get inlet manifold off, reseal with silicone etc if gaskets ok if not youd have to undo exhaust manifold to swap gasket

There is a small 1 inch section of black hose that branches off a larger black hose just to the left of the red circle. Is that the pipe that also needs blocking off.

The union between stainless flexi and black pipe just to left of your red circle,if you undo this union,I found a 2 pence piece was a good fit in the gasket. Then re-connect union with 2 p on board and your egr is blanked .The good bit is only you know it is blanked.
The 2p is far bigger than the bore of the black pipe so no chance of wandering.

the above post referred to braided hose laid over starter, ther are 2 pipes fed from turbo ,one to wastegate actuator the other boost pipe to injection pump ,dont remove or block them

Hi.

Yep got it thanks mate.

Was that all there was too it apart from cleaning.

Did those instructions cover all of the bits and pipes that need blanking and blocking. Etc

That's pretty much it mate. My top hose wasn't full of gunk so it wasn't too bad. I got a new top hose to replace the "y" shaped one, and the blanking plug for the vacum pipe to solenoid. I can send you a link if you want?

Seen a Brit part kit that has all the new blue silicon hoses and blanking plates. Might just stump up for that as I'm gonna replace all hoses anyway.

Excuse my lack of knowledge but it this the manifold that needs cleaning out.
