was just wondering what sort of power can be acheived from a 200tdi disco with an uprated intercooler, boost incresed to 1 bar, pump increased to suit, free flowing exhaust.

only after rough ammounts as i know every engine will respond differently.

Doing that much MIGHT give you an extra 10% on a good day.

So if you had 100 bhp to start with you MIGHT get 110 bhp now. It is said that you won't notice a 10% power increase, and the power is only increased at close to maximum revs anyway.

What you MAY notice is that it pulls better from at about 2,000 rpm and up, especially on cold days.

click the link above

"50-300 additional horsepower
• Creates cooler intake air temps and reduced exhaust gas temperatures
• Uses the TPS sensor to activate the nitrous for the ultimate in safe engagement
• Incorporates a boost switch for timing the nitrous; maximum nitrous power while under boost"

a bit dubious, basically works in corperation of increased airflow, feul injection upgrades, increased mapping and high flow injector pumps!Would wanna see an increase in hp for all that anyway. And do dezuls run very hot?

i used to have a disel peugeot 306 that i fitted nos to, but had it on a spray bar on the front mount cooler, so it dropped charge temps. didnt notice much difference to be honest lol.

7.3 Litre doozil with NOS...

Now Goonarmy and The Mad Hat Man, behave yourselves!

NOx in a diesel! Nitrous Oxide NO2 .... laughing gas ..... anaesthetic gas .....

Goony is right though. Until the black smoke point all diesels are running with excess oxygen in the cylinders, so throwing in NO2 won't do any good except to make nitric and nitrous acids in the exhaust which is probably not top of the good ideas list, UNLESS you can also heave in extra diesel ONLY when the NO2 is going in. Anyway, You would need to be carrying gigantic gas cylinders to have enough NO2 to have any effect for more than a few seconds.

It is entirely different from petrol engines in which the air-fuel ratio matters, and where the amount of oxygen (air) getting into the cylinders is the limiting factor. In the turbo diesel the sky's the limit power-wise if you care to hoick up the turbo to 7 BAR / 100psi .... Sometimes too many horse-power happens ...

In fairness - I only suggested it tongue-in-cheek - but it is used seriously to improve performance in doozils, much to my surprise, as the examples above show!

oooooo - that pic - int that injun inside-out?

I think they may have over-done the boost, but on the other hand it does achieve good crankcase ventilation and piston cooling!

Once ....

You wanna see the pic of the blow-up?

Yes you can run NOS on a diesel, when I was racing a few years back I saw an oldsmobile gragster with a diesel V8 run an 11 second 1/4 mile, and IIRC they are a lot quicker now :D.

The yanks have been doing it for years however, as the amount of development done so far on a 200tdi (why would you?) is very little I would think you would need very deep pockets!

The BANG when a NOS engine lets go is quite scary but signals more money to be spent, do you have significant disposable income?

It would be great as already mentioned blowing the doors of a petrol V8 though :D, if you do go ahead with it please let me have a go please. Oh go on..............pretty please?

Dave

why not go half way there fit propane injection, I have done that on a 300tdi, it increases power and tourque by a considerable amount, and if you dont boot it all the time its more economical. the best way to do it is to have it fed in just on boost. I ran mine for over a year with no detriment to the engine, in fact it runs quieter, smoother and cooler.
