Hi All,
dont usually post on the disco forum, am currently a Freelander owner and am looking some time in the near future to swap it. Am being drawn to a discovery as it ticks all the boxes for my needs. Itow a horse trailer regularly and field/mud use is not unusual. The Freelander albeit ok i feel at times struggles with the mud side of things when called upon. My question is what do you recommend, what would i expect to pay for something 2000 or newer, and what are the common problems to look out for? The vehicle also has to double as the family motor as well.
thank you Wayne

Look for a Disco TD5.

I also tow a heavily loaded horsebox and this is the best you can get apart from a lwb defender but that isn't really practical as a day to day car.

Personally I prefer the manual for normal day to day driving but I've tried the automatic occassionally and it makes towing a breeze.

There are lots of threads on the forum on what to look out for and if you look in the for sale section you can get a good idea of what's available.

I've also used a freelander for towing and it isn't a patch on the disco

Good luck

paul
