Quite a simple one this. I am new here and hoping to get myself a Discovery 1 real soon!

Looking at what some of you have done to your trucks I am just wondering what you tell the insurance companies about and what they would be most interested in?

I'm thinking about things such as:

2" lifts
Snorkels
Winches
AT / MT rubber
Bumpers
Side exit exhausts

This list I am sure could be endless but I'm keen to know.

Cheers.

When you get your disco and try to insure it they'll ask if the cars had any modifications and you're best off telling them everything. If you don't your insurance will be void, I don't want you driving into me one day only to find out you've no real insurance cover.

insurance companies will try to wriggle out of paying if they can so list EVERYTHING, a pain in the arse i know but if you smash your truck and they come down to check it out afterwards and find out its been modded without informing them they may void your insurance. Even if the mod had nothing to do with the accident.

Ah right, I have started phoning around and getting some interesting results.

Can anyone recommend some good / cheap companies??

lancaster insurance is a good one too..

and if you looking for a Disco 1....mine is for sale. :)
its the one on the signature, but now has roof lights and some other bits and bobs..and most importantly...the welding done!!
you cant get anymore off road extras on it... even has bucket seats with 4 point harness to keep you in place!

just stumbled across this:- Raise a pickup truck but keep the bumper at a legal level. Raise trucks and Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) with lift kits but make sure their bumpers adhere to a safe level, usually about 15 inches from the ground. Contact your state's Department of Motor Vehicles for the specifications in your local area. -:dunno if if it applies in the UK though, are they saying a vehicle with a bumper higher than 15" off the ground would be illegal, (and therefor void the insurance).
