good old lz, like always its really helpin this kid wi his landy!:D anyhows if under 30 mpg is a shock , 18mpg is stupid and 9mpg (mine) is fookin complete outa the question a landy int for you, if yer wanta 90 or 110 for stabitity and strength, buy ex-mod but be carefull on condition. series2 or 3 would be bit thursty i think, fun never the less, still think a trailer is needed tho if yer loggin, but that drops yer mpg again, used to do lot of tree work with a 90 truck cab pickup 2.5 na doozle, never had a problem , pulled a sankey wide track trailer no probs. still use it today more for building works and like, insurance prob work out bout £450 when yer passed, then drop to next to nothin

I would suggest a hicap pickup for all the gear and storage you need but they aint cheap and vertually all of them have worked hard for a living. Have a look on autotrader or plant auctions for 90/110 hard tops or pickups and invest in some rachet straps to keep everything still.Ideal world would probbly be a 130 but they have the turning cirle of a locamototive and have all grafted.ANd like you sed v8 is relly an option. You will probbably find insurnce cheaper if you go through commerical insurers and sign writing can save you some munny.Good luck!
